within the organization, the requirements for reinstatement of those who are disfellowshipped are 'repentance' of any any previous actions and attitude ; a demonstration of no longer practicing whatever 'sin' you got disfellowshipped for, as well as demonstrating submissiveness to the elders, the regulations, and the f&d slave.

ATJ, although I usually enjoy your posts, I think it is time for your meds. While you have been on here for several years and have had time to think/ read about this many times, other newer ones may be reading about these things for the first time. I was in for 28 years and many of the threads contain things that I had never read about until reading COC. Please be patient with us newer ones, it may be more of the same for you, but may be mind blowing for some of the newbies.
That being said, I do appreciate your posts, your candor with the elder you were and the man you have become. Please keep it up.

Advise about my mom.

She brought it up, take a shot. Like you said, ask her what the show said made them a cult, then ask her what she thinks about that information. Drop hints and hope she picks up on them. You might want to share Hassan's BITE model with her to identify a cult. If an organization wants to control: Behavior, Information, Thought, Emotions they are a cult, let her draw her own conclusions and let the doubts begin.

If only this had happened 2 or 3 times. Think of the vast number of families that this cult has torn apart, one of them being mine. I can only hope that this story is not written about my mother when she passes. At that time, will she doubt or question her decisions to shun her only 2 children, or will she self righteously think to herself that she did Jah's will?
